Teddy Bear’s Hospital

What a lovely day we had today in the Teddy Bear’s Hospital. The kids got to dress up as doctors and give their teddies injections and blood transfusions, put on bandages and take x-rays. They loved every minute of it. Look at their happy faces.

Happy Birthday

We love when our friends have birthdays in the Language Class because it means we can have cake. Yum! This cake was a special Spiderman cake for a special little boy. And of course we had to have a dance off afterwards. Party Time!!

Happy Birthday Mr. Hurley!

Mr. Hurley git a lovely surprise today when the children from the language classes presented him with a card they made. He said that it was the biggest card he had ever seen. Happy birthday Mr. Hurley. We hope you have a lovely day.

Adorable Snowmen

Brrrr! It’s cold outside. Look at these snowmen made by the Senior Language Class. Aren’t they adorable?

Diffusion Experiment

We had such an exciting day today in the Language Class. We learned all about diffusion. Diffusion is the intermingling of substances by the movement of their particles. In this experiment, we watched how the colours from the skittles moved into the centre of the plate through the water. Why do the colours spread? Skittles are coated in food colouring and sugar. When you pour water over the skittles the coloured coating dissolves spreading through the water. The colour and sugar dissolve into the water and then diffuse through the water, making it the colour of the skittle.

First we placed the skittles in a circle on a white plate.

Then we stood back while Ms. O Connor poured warm water on our skittles.

Then we watched as the colours from the skittles spread into the middle of the plate creating beautiful displays.

Then we used our fingers to mix the colours together.

Finally, we ate the skittles!!

Life Skills

We are getting so good at washing our faces and brushing our teeth. Well done everyone. Keep practicing at home.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to one of the little girls in the Junior Class. 5 years old!! How grown up. Thank you to the family for sending in a yummy chocolate cake for everyone. Party time!!

Life Skills Programme

Congratulations to all the boys and girls in the Language Class for completing a Life Skills programme. We practiced many skills we will need in our day-to-day routines such as washing our hands, brushing our teeth and washing our faces. We also practiced buttering toast and pouring drinks. As a special surprise for our last day we made hot chocolate and iced biscuits. Yum, yum.

Happy Halloween

Halloween is a busy time in the Language Class. We read Halloween stories, sing Halloween songs and play Halloween games. Here we are carving a pumkin for our class. We all got a turn to scoop out the messy inside. We tasted pumpkin seeds. Some of us loved the seeds so much that we took home a bagful. Happy Halloween everyone!

Beautiful Butterflies

We read a story in class called The Hungry Caterpillar all about a caterpillar who grew up to be a beautiful butterfly. We learned all about the lifecycle of the butterfly from the egg stage all the way to the adult stage. Soon we will make clay butterflies but first we made models out of marla. Here are photos of us proudly displaying our work.
