| Four weeks ago Chris arrived at our school. We were delighted to see him. He explained that he was on a European tour and he wanted to learn about going to school in Ireland so that he could tell the children in Germany, Italy, The Czech Republic and Belgium all about it when he goes to their schools.
| At first we were shy and so was Chris. We asked Chris questions about his trip around Europe. He told us that he is very excited about going to school in Germany after he leaves Ireland.

Chris quickly became part of our class. He is very smart and he enjoyed working with us. We study English, Maths, Gaeilge (Irish Language), Geography, History, Science, Physical Education, Social, Personal and Health Education, Music and Drama.
| Chris’ favourite subject was Physical Education. At the moment we are learning to play hurling, which is a traditional Irish sport played with a hurley stick and a small ball called a sliotar.
| Our local hurling team is called St. Finbarr’s and they recently won the county final. The team visited our school with the cup. We were very excited and Chris even got to sit in the cup!

Chris Loves Maths! Chris helped us with our
maths. He is excellent
at counting and loves
numbers.
| Chris ate lunch with us. We have a small break at 11.00 until 11.15 and our lunch is 1.20 to 1.40. Before we go to the playground we eat our lunch. We have a healthy eating policy in our school so we always try and eat healthy and nutritious food. Chris loved our break time because he got to sit and chat with us.
First class were meditating and Chris was so relaxed that he fell asleep!
| Just to wake him up, Ms. O’ Sullivan’s class had to do their morning exercises with him. Chris loves to join in.
| Our school has a big garden. We use it for sports, nature studies and outdoor adventure. Chris helped us collect autumn leaves. He loved playing in our garden!
| Chris wanted to play hide and seek so he hid in the Three Bears’ House and behind the garden trees. He was so good at hiding, sometimes it took 15 minutes to find him.
On Fridays, Mr. Hurley’s class has “fun with maths.” We play maths games and Chris was the best at snakes and ladders in the class. |
| Chris loves to be read to. We picked our favourite books from the library and read them to Chris. |
Every Thursday we play chess. We are just learning at the moment and Chris helped us to move the king and the queen pieces on a large chess board. |
| Chris was very friendly with our Principal, Mr. Whooley. Chris even wore Mr. Whooley’s reading glasses, just for fun!
Word of Chris’ visit spread and the Lord Mayor of Cork visited our school. He wished Chris well on his European adventure and told him he was always welcome in Cork. |
| Chris was so excited when he got invitations to visit schools in Germany, Belgium, The Czech Republic and Italy. He checked the internet to find out more about your schools and he can’t wait to meet you.
On Chris’ last day we read him letters from Germany as he was getting ready to meet everyone in the German school. There was a big Jazz Festival in our city and a jazz band played a farewell song to Chris. Mr. Hurley drove him to the airport to catch his flight to Hamburg. |
Thanks for visiting us Chris. We’ll miss you; call again to our school!
Love,
Greenmount
