Cork City Sports is fast approaching and our boys and girls are training hard for the big day. Best of luck to our hard working athletics team on the day! Best
The One Book One Community Project was launched by the lord Mayor at the Lough today. Children from all the local primary schools gathered together to begin a fortnight of work on Michael Morpurgo’s “Mr. Nobody’s Eyes.” World Champion, Bernard Dunne popped along to encourage all our young people to keep up their love of reading.
Our choir performed at City Hall today at an Edmund Rice gathering. Our school was chosen to represent the Presentation Primary Schools within the Edmund Rice Family.
Nine pupils picked up prizes for our Water Conservation Competition today. Greenmount is busy learning how to save water so we can earn our 3rd Green Flag.
Ms. Rice’s 6th Class took 3rd prize in the Discover Cork Schools’ Heritage Project Competition. Their project was a very thorough history of their 160 year old school and included a history of the famous Greenmount area. The class carried out an interview with past pupil and former Lord Mayor, Toddy O’Sullivan, to find out what school was like in the past. This is the second big win for Greenmount in this competition in recent years.
A selection of classes dressed up in odd socks for National Down Syndrome Day. All over the country boys and girls wore odd socks to school to raise money for Down Syndrome Ireland. All the money raised at Greenmount N.S. on the day will be donated to Down Syndrome Cork.
Senior classes were treated to a golf workshop on Wednesday last. Great fun was had!
