We did place value using arrow cards, dienes blocks and marla, spaghetti and cheerios!!

The One Book One Community Project was launched by the lord Mayor at the Lough today. Children from all the local primary schools gathered together to begin a fortnight of work on Michael Morpurgo’s “Mr. Nobody’s Eyes.” World Champion, Bernard Dunne popped along to encourage all our young people to keep up their love of reading.

Last Wednesday we made rain gauges using recycled bottles from home. These will help us measure the amount of rainfall here in Greenmount.
The Boys’ Football Team gave us a heart stopping match against Barney Street N.S. in Páirc Uí Chaoimh today. The boys returned home champions!
We also planted tulips for the Spring. These we have kept in the garden to the front of the school so we can keep an eye on them over the winter months.
Today we planted lettuce seeds trying to establish what we needed for the seeds to grow? Heat, light or water?
2nd and 3rd class went on a field trip to the Lough to learn about the history of the Lough and how the community uses it. We learnt about the bats there and why you must not feed the birds bread but green vegetables instead.
