Happy birthday to one of the little girls in the Junior Class. 5 years old!! How grown up. Thank you to the family for sending in a yummy chocolate cake for everyone. Party time!!
Congratulations to all the boys and girls in the Language Class for completing a Life Skills programme. We practiced many skills we will need in our day-to-day routines such as washing our hands, brushing our teeth and washing our faces. We also practiced buttering toast and pouring drinks. As a special surprise for our last day we made hot chocolate and iced biscuits. Yum, yum.
Halloween is a busy time in the Language Class. We read Halloween stories, sing Halloween songs and play Halloween games. Here we are carving a pumkin for our class. We all got a turn to scoop out the messy inside. We tasted pumpkin seeds. Some of us loved the seeds so much that we took home a bagful. Happy Halloween everyone!
We read a story in class called The Hungry Caterpillar all about a caterpillar who grew up to be a beautiful butterfly. We learned all about the lifecycle of the butterfly from the egg stage all the way to the adult stage. Soon we will make clay butterflies but first we made models out of marla. Here are photos of us proudly displaying our work.
Today 1st class visited the local playground.
First we talked about how to be ‘safe’ on the playground.
Next we got to ‘push and pull’ to make the swing move.
Then we designed our very own ‘Dream Playground’
What a fun day !!
We attempted to make gas explosions in school on Friday. There was loads of excitement in class!
We read about Horrid Henry and the mega mean time machine this week, so we decided to design and build our own time machines using our STEM bins.
We put honey, golden syrup, washing up liquid, water, oil and hand sanitiser into a clear plastic bottle to prove that all liquids have different weights. This is known as liquid density.
In our class we have been busy practicing how to write our letters. Sometimes we use chalkboards and whiteboards. Sometimes we make them out of marla. But today we practiced tracing them in sand. It felt … sandy!
